Petition in Support of Action Against the Oppressive Regime in Eritrea

To: The Government of Ethiopia, International Human Rights Organizations, and All Peace-Loving Individuals Worldwide

We, the undersigned members of Meley Network, Global and Eritrean justice seekers from around the globe, stand united in our call for action against the oppressive regime that has perpetuated suffering and injustice against the Eritrean people for over half a century. As advocates for peace, we seek to foster a harmonious coexistence with our Ethiopian brothers and sisters, rooted in our shared heritage and commitment to justice.

We believe that our peoples are manifestations of a divine purpose—an embodiment of hope and resilience in the Horn of Africa. It is imperative that we recognize our interconnectedness and the potential we hold to uplift one another. The Eritrean people have endured the devastation wrought by a fascist government that has not only dismantled our nation but has also threatened the peace and stability of the entire region.

For decades, the Eritrean regime under Isaias Afeworki has engaged in systematic abuse, stifling freedom, and crushing the aspirations of our people. As we witness the fragile peace in Ethiopia, we are reminded that the scars of oppression in Eritrea continue to bleed into the lives of our neighbors. We must act now to prevent further deterioration of our shared future.

We urge the Ethiopian government and the international community to:

  1. Condemn the Actions of the Eritrean Regime: Publicly denounce the human rights violations committed by the Eritrean government and hold it accountable for its actions.

  2. Support Eritrean Refugees and Dissidents: Provide sanctuary and resources to Eritreans fleeing persecution and those advocating for change within the country.

  3. Promote Dialogue for Peace: Facilitate conversations between Eritrean opposition groups and the Ethiopian government to foster a united front against tyranny and to pave the way for a peaceful transition in Eritrea.

  4. Encourage International Solidarity: Collaborate with international human rights organizations to raise awareness about the plight of Eritreans and advocate for their rights on a global scale.

  5. Invest in Regional Cooperation: Explore avenues for economic and cultural collaboration between Eritrea and Ethiopia, emphasizing the potential for synergy and growth once the chains of oppression are broken.

Together, we can dismantle the evil and destructive nature of Isaias Afeworki and his network. By standing in solidarity, we have the power to reclaim our narrative and build a brighter future for Eritrea and Ethiopia—a future characterized by justice, peace, and mutual respect.

We invite all peace-loving individuals to join us in this crucial effort. Sign this petition to support our call for action, and let us work together to restore dignity and hope to the people of Eritrea and our shared region.
